Prearrangements > How it works?
The prearrangement contract is signed while you are still alive. It provides for a certain number of products and services to be supplied at time of your death. Therefore, you customize your funeral according to your religious beliefs, customs and principles.
First, to help you assess your situation, we can provide you with a very useful document, without any obligation on your part. The Personal Planning Guide is available upon request by contacting one of the Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes members. info@dignitequebec.com
If you wish to receive more information, you can meet with one of our consultants at any time. They can answer any of your questions and provide you with any relevant information you might need to make your choice either with regard to logistic aspects, rites or liturgical services.
At time of signing a prearrangement contract, make sure in the first place that the company truly holds a funeral service director licence. You must know that only holders of such licences have the right to propose contracts for these types of funeral products and services.
You should be aware that these types of contracts cover the purchase of products such as coffin, burial urn, monument, and flowers. It includes a certain number of services such as transportation of the body, embalming, cremation, burial, ceremony, funeral's details, etc.
Prearrangement contracts must always specify payment terms and conditions. A description and the price of each product and service, the applicable taxes, the total for each category, the total price of the contract, the contract's down payment procedure and the cancellation terms should all be included.
Please note that the money received for this contract will be deposited in a trust account. The law penalizes severely any merchant who might try to withdraw this money for their personal use. In case of bankruptcy, the trust money will be excluded from the bankruptcy, as it remains your personal possession.
We assure you that, at time of your death, no additional sum of money will be required from your family members since everything will have been paid in advance. And despite the fact that prices might eventually go up from the time of signing your contract to the time when services will be rendered. In fact, a part of the interests collected on the amount deposited in trust will compensate for any inflation. We guarantee that you will get the same quality of services and products. Also, please note that the law forbids that companies include any price index clause to prearrangement contracts.
